Dropping a total of 380 m, these are the highest waterfalls in Europe and a symbol of the vast natural beauty of the Hohe Tauern National Park. For over 100 years, the Waterfall Trail has been taking nature-lovers out, via numerous lookout points and bridges, to enjoy an up-close experience of this natural wonder. The upper fall is a breathtaking natural spectacle at a height of 145 m. The lowermost, two-tiered waterfall, is fed by masses of water from 17 glacial streams, these in their turn falling another 140 m to the valley basin of Krimml.

During the winter months, visitors take the trail at their own risk. It is 37.9 km from Zell am Ziller to Krimml. The car drive takes around 38 minutes.
